The Central Nervous System can be considered to be the neural networks present in the brain. These networks are fundamental to who we are as people. They allows us to think, feel emotions, experience sensation, learn, interact with the world and live. Damage to the CNS, caused by disease or trauma, can have profound implications to both physical and mental health.
This website provides teaching resources detailing pathology of the brain, my experimental methods and my research publications.

BIOGRAPHY
Andrew Edwards, BSc, MRes
The aim of my DPhil work was to find genetic mutations in mice which caused neuroanatomical defects in the hippocampus, cortex, corpus callosum, and ventricles. The rationale behind this was that such mutations would be informative about developmental neurobiology, the biological basis of behaviour and had the potential to provide insight into pathological mechanisms of numerous human neurological conditions.
Previously, during my MRes, I researched the synapse as a target in the paediatric neurodegenerative contition known as neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis.
My primary research interest is the genetic basic of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disease.
I am currently studying a medical degree at the University of Dundee.
